1. Where is the Church Located?
Emmanuel United Church is located at 871 Upper Ottawa St., Hamilton, ON. If you are coming for the first time, there are signs to guide you to the Main Entrance and Parking Lot.
2. Is There Parking Available?
There is ample parking behind the building, including many all-accessible parking spots.
3. How Long are the Worship Services?
The Services typically last around an hour and a half, which include music, a message from our minister, prayers, and announcements. We strive to create a meaningful experience while being mindful of your time.
4. What Can I Expect During the Services?
Our Services include both contemporary and traditional music, a relevant and inspiring sermon, and time for prayers and reflection. We invite everyone to engage in the Service in a way that is comfortable for them, whether that is through singing, listening, or quietly reflecting.
5. Do I Need to Wear Anything Special?
Emmanuel United Church has no formal dress code. We encourage you to wear what makes you feel comfortable. Some people dress up, while others prefer casual attire—whatever makes you feel comfortable.
6. What is the Music Like?
Our Worship Music features a mix of contemporary songs and classic hymns. We have an exceptionally talented Choir Director that leads us in song, and we invite everyone to participate.
7. Can I Bring My Children to the Worship Services?
Yes! Emmanuel United Church welcomes children of all ages in our Worship Services. If your child becomes restless, we have a designated Nursery where you can continue to watch the service on your mobile device via Zoom while taking care of your child’s needs.
8. Do I Need to be a Member to Attend?
Everyone is welcome to attend our Sunday Worship Services, whether you are a member, a visitor, or just exploring Emmanuel United Church. We invite you to come as you are.
9. Is There Communion?
Yes; Emmanuel United Church celebrates Communion on the first Sunday of each month. We encourage everyone to participate. However, if you are visiting, or simply do not feel ready, please feel free to just observe.
10. How Can I Get Involved?
We are always excited to welcome new people into the life of Emmanuel United Church. You can get involved by signing up for a Committee, volunteering for various events and/or activities, bringing a dish to a potluck, or simply joining us for events. For more information, please contact the Office.
11. Will There be an Offering?
Yes; during the Service, we take a moment for an offering as an opportunity to give back to Emmanuel United Church. While visitors are not expected to give, you can do so through the offering plate via cash or cheque, or online via e-transfer to euchamilton@gmail.com.
12. Can I Stay After the Services?
After the Services, there is coffee and snacks available in our Fellowship Hall for everyone to partake in, as well as joining in conversation. Our Office is also open on Sundays from 10am-12Noon if you have questions or wish to learn about upcoming events and/or activities, informations about Committees, how to become a member, etc.
